Terms & Conditions

Garage servicing, diagnostics and repairs

Version 1 · Updated 1 November 2026

1. about these terms

These terms cover servicing, diagnostics, repairs and associated work agreed with JPR Car & Commercials ("we", "us"). Our workshop is at Plant Centre, Windmill Lane, Preston on the Hill, Cheshire, WA4 4AZ. Contact us on 07456 396243 or through WhatsApp using the same number. The legal trader's details will be shown on your quotation, job confirmation or invoice and supplied before you enter into a contract.

We will make these terms available before you authorise work. The agreed job details, price and any specific written arrangements form part of your contract. Using this website alone does not authorise repairs or waive any rights. Nothing in these terms removes or restricts rights you have under applicable consumer law.

2. bookings and your instructions

A booking or enquiry is a request until we confirm the appointment and scope of work. Please provide accurate contact details, vehicle registration, symptoms, relevant history and any known modifications, security requirements or faults. You must own the vehicle or have authority to instruct work on it. Tell us promptly if your instructions change.

3. quotations, estimates and prices

We will explain whether a price is a fixed quotation or an estimate. A quotation covers the specified work at the stated price. An estimate is an informed indication based on what we know before inspection or dismantling. We will seek your agreement before exceeding an agreed price or spending limit, or carrying out additional chargeable work. Consumer prices include VAT where applicable and all unavoidable charges. Where a final price cannot be given in advance, we will explain how it will be calculated. If no price has been agreed, a reasonable price applies.

4. diagnostics and additional work

Diagnosis is a professional investigation and may involve testing, inspection or agreed dismantling. We will explain any diagnostic charge before starting; it may be payable even if you decide against repairs. A fault code does not always identify the underlying cause, and intermittent faults may require further investigation. If we find additional work is needed, we will explain the findings, options, likely cost and timing and obtain your approval. Authorisation may be recorded in writing, by WhatsApp or by telephone. If we cannot contact you, we will pause further chargeable work rather than assume consent.

5. parts and customer-supplied items

JPR does not fit customer-supplied parts. We supply parts appropriate to the agreed repair and will discuss any proposed used or reconditioned parts with you before fitting. If you want to inspect or retain removed parts, tell us before work starts. We will explain any exchange-part requirement or disposal restriction. Hazardous materials and waste will be handled appropriately.

6. workmanship and completion

We will carry out the agreed work with reasonable care and skill. We will agree the service scope, including whether it follows a manufacturer's schedule or a separately described service. Completion times are estimates unless expressly agreed as a binding deadline. We will tell you about material delays, such as unavailable parts or further faults, and discuss your options. Delays do not remove any right or remedy you have under your contract or the law.

7. movement, road testing and vehicle care

Where reasonably necessary for the agreed work, we may move, inspect and road-test your vehicle using appropriately authorised and insured personnel. Tell us about restrictions or special operating instructions before leaving it. Please remove valuables and tell us about existing damage. We remain responsible for loss or damage for which we are legally liable; leaving a vehicle with us is not acceptance of an "owner's risk" exclusion. Personal items left in a vehicle do not automatically become our responsibility, but this does not excuse negligence.

8. mot preparation, collection and mobile work

MOT preparation and repairs do not guarantee a pass. MOT testing is carried out at a test station. Any collection, delivery, test presentation, third-party testing fee or mobile call-out must be agreed in advance, including any charge and access requirements. Retest collection is available by arrangement where JPR carried out the repair work. For mobile visits, provide a safe and suitable working area; if the location or conditions are unsuitable, we will discuss alternatives and any previously agreed call-out charge.

9. payment, deposits and collection

Payment is due in full before vehicle release unless a credit account or different payment arrangement was agreed in advance. Any deposit, its purpose and the circumstances in which it may be used will be explained before payment. Deposits are not automatically non-refundable. We will provide an invoice showing the work and charges. Tell us promptly about any disputed item so we can investigate it; these terms do not remove your right to challenge a bill. Any right to retain a vehicle pending payment will be exercised only where the law permits.

Please collect your vehicle promptly after we tell you it is ready. Storage charges will apply only where a reasonable rate, start date and conditions have been clearly disclosed and agreed beforehand, with reasonable notice before charging begins. We will not sell or dispose of an uncollected vehicle without following the applicable legal notice and disposal procedure.

10. changing or cancelling a booking

Let us know as soon as possible if you need to change or cancel. Outside any statutory cancellation right, any cancellation charge must have been disclosed and agreed in advance and must reflect a reasonable, unavoidable net loss after steps to reduce it. We will not automatically charge the full job price or for work not done. For authorised work already started, we will explain the work completed and any reasonable cost of making the vehicle safe for collection.

Consumers entering a qualifying distance or off-premises service contract normally have 14 days after the contract is made to cancel. A workshop booking does not automatically create such a contract. Where this right applies, we will provide the required information and a cancellation form in a format you can keep. To cancel, tell us clearly by WhatsApp, telephone or post using the details above; you do not have to use the form.

We will start within that period only at your express request. If you then cancel, you pay only a proportionate amount for services supplied, and only where the legal conditions for that charge are met. The cancellation right ends on full performance only where you expressly requested early performance and acknowledged beforehand that completion would end that right. Any exception for a specifically requested urgent repair visit applies only to qualifying urgent work and necessary replacement parts, not unrelated extras. Statutory cancellation refunds will be made within the legally required period, normally 14 days after notification, subject only to lawful deductions.

11. faults, guarantees and remedies

Contact us promptly if you believe our work or a part we supplied is faulty. Give us a reasonable opportunity to inspect and put things right where appropriate. Stop using the vehicle if continued use could be unsafe or cause further damage, and contact us for advice. This does not prevent emergency action or restrict your legal remedies.

Any additional parts or labour guarantee, its duration and any valid conditions will be explained on your quotation or invoice. Such guarantees are additional to statutory rights. Consumer remedies may include repeat performance at no extra cost or an appropriate price reduction where the law provides. Wear, misuse, unrelated faults or work by another repairer do not automatically prove our repair is defective, but neither do they automatically remove a valid claim.

12. safety advice

We will explain significant safety defects we identify and record advice about outstanding work. If you decline recommended repairs, we will discuss safe transport or recovery where needed. Signing a record of that advice does not waive your rights or release us from responsibility for our own work. You remain responsible for lawful operation and ongoing maintenance of the vehicle.

13. liability

We are responsible for foreseeable loss or damage caused by our breach of contract or failure to use reasonable care and skill. Nothing excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, or anything the law does not allow us to exclude or limit. These terms do not impose a blanket exclusion for vehicles in our care or a limit equal to the repair bill. Any separate terms for business customers must be expressly agreed and lawful; consumer protections continue to apply wherever relevant.

14. complaints and personal information

Raise a complaint with JPR using the contact details above, giving your registration, invoice reference and an explanation of the concern and preferred outcome. We will investigate, explain our findings and seek a fair resolution. If we cannot resolve a consumer complaint, we will provide information about an appropriate approved alternative dispute resolution provider and state whether we are obliged or willing to use it. These terms do not claim membership of any trade or ombudsman scheme.

We use customer and vehicle information to handle enquiries, carry out work, take payment, maintain necessary records and meet legal obligations. We share relevant details only where needed, for example with an agreed test station or service provider, or where legally required. Ask us for details about how your information is handled. Marketing is handled separately from job-related communications.

15. law and changes

English and Welsh law applies, subject to any mandatory rights you have as a consumer. Consumers may bring proceedings in the courts available to them under applicable law, including courts where they live when entitled to do so. If one term is unenforceable, the remaining terms continue so far as lawful. Changes to these website terms apply to future agreements; the version supplied when your job was agreed applies unless we mutually agree a lawful change.

Optional cancellation form

Complete and return this only if you wish to cancel a contract carrying a statutory cancellation right.
